Pamela Jean Crain, age 70, of Altus, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Plantation Village.

Mrs. Crain was born in Ardmore on May 11, 1943, to Everett Earl Hopkins and Berniece Beatrice Hartsell. As a child the family moved to Blythe, California, and then later lived in Frederick. Pam later attended school in Tulsa, and graduated from Daniel Webster High in 1961. After moving to Altus, Pam was a student and later an instructor at Aladdin Beauty College. After beginning a family, she began a style shop for wigs and traveled back and forth to Tulsa for several years while co owning La Petite and then later the Clipper Ship Beauty Salons. A very talented person, Pam was involved in the arts and began dancing at age two and as a teenager owned a dance studio. She taught dance at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and later at Western Oklahoma State College. While in school she also won state vocal contests. She later graduated WOSC with three associate degrees. Pam was the youth and choir leader at Friendship Baptist Church for a time; she then was involved in the First United Methodist Church and their Country Kitchen Bazaar. On March 5, 1994, she married Garland David Crain and they spent the next twenty wonderful years together before her death. She and Garland were members of the Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church. Pam worked at Green"s Jewelers and Park Lane Drug for a while. At WOSC, Pam worked as assistant to Dean Chesser and ultimately retired as the WOSC Liaison to Altus Air Force Base. Pam was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Altus Class IV. Pam enjoyed traveling, dancing, sharing her creations, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don Smith and Elmer Hopkins, she is survived by her husband, Garland Crain, of the home; four children, Nicole "Nicki Winters" Reed and husband Tony, Jason Winters and wife Jenny all of Altus, Jason Crain and wife Chrystal, and Jeff Crain and wife Merri all of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Dillon Walker of Weatherford, Matt Newman of Weatherford, Jonah Crain and Samantha Jo Crain of Arlington, Texas and Autumn Reed of Nevada; one brother, Jay Ryan of Altus along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Pam Crain will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Norman Jones and Talmadge Porter officiating. Interment will follow at the Navajo Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society for Leukemia.
