Obituary for Oscar Rivera
Oscar Rivera, Altus resident, passed away on February 1, 2022, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was 67 year old at his time of death.
Oscar was born on March 4, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Felipe Rivera and Maria (Navarro) Rivera. He grew up in Altus, Oklahoma and was a member of the graduating class of 1973. He continued his education at Western Oklahoma State College, where he completed his Associate's Degree.
Oscar valued hard work. He dedicated 15 years to Kellwoods, spent one year with the Coca-Cola Company, and finally retired from Bar-S Foods in March of 2020 after a devoted 27 years of service in the plant's shipping logistics department and other areas.
On February 12, 1983, Oscar married Patsy Sue Neal. Their union spanned 39 blissful years. When he wasn't working, Oscar enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Big Bang Theory. He also cherished spending time with his family, whom he loved wholeheartedly. Oscar had a great passion for art and liked many different styles of music. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a high priest. His smile and presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Felipe and Victor Rivera; two sisters: Gloria Reyes and Maria Mendez; and his son-in- law, Thomas Caldwell Jr.
Left to remember Oscar is his wife, Patsy Rivera; his son, H. Bennett Talley (CassieLynn); his daughter, Susan Caldwell; his grandchildren: Thomas Caldwell III, Taylor Caldwell, Tobey Talley, Tanner Talley (Krystal), Logan Talley, Tara Talley, Chloee Lenae Talley, and Jay Talley; three great- grandchildren: Tessie Talley, Parker Talley and Aidan Talley; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
