Obituary for Opal Mae Dark
Opal Mae Dark, age 92, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at English Village Manor.
She was born January 19, 1961, in Hex, Oklahoma, in Beckham County to John S. Blanscet and Rosa (Ford) Blanscet.
On December 31, 1933, in Hobart, Oklahoma, Opal and Horace Dark were united in marriage. To this union three children were born. Horace preceded Opal in death on February 8, 2003. For several years Opal and Horace lived in Oklahoma City, but after retirement, they moved back to Altus.
She was a wonderful mother and Homemaker. Opal loved cooking, sewing, vegetable gardening and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Mary and Duane Bowen from Altus, Oklahoma, Cleda and Louis Strehlow of alba, Texas; three sisters, Rozelle Wale of Amarillo, Texas, Joy Lou Long of Pueblo, Colorado and Imogene Glasscock of Moscow, Idaho. She is also survived by six grandsons, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jerry Dark, one brother, one half-sister and a grandson, Terry Bowen.
Celebration of Life Service for Opal Mae Dark is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Louis Strehlow officiating.
The family of Opal Mae Dark will greet friends Thursday evening June 26, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
