Neva Lou King, age 84 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home in Altus.

Neva was born November 5, 1933 in Altus, Oklahoma to her parents Wesley Williams and Lorena (McGuffin) Williams. Neva lived and died within a mile from where she was born west of Altus. On June 14, 1951 she married Arthur King at her Aunt Isabelle Dial’s home in Friendship, Oklahoma. Neva and Arthur enjoyed of 65 happy years of marriage together before Arthur’s death in 2016. Neva Lou loved being a homemaker, loved to cook and she canned fruits and vegetables, serving and taking care of her three children and all the pets they had including; cats, dogs, chickens, guineas, hamsters, a pet pigeon and a pet possum. She kept her house full of animated knick knacks that would “awaken” when house guest and family walked by-and she would always get a kick out of it. Neva loved flowers and everything in God’s creation. She loved all things sparkly and her favorite color was purple. Her whole life was about helping and comforting others. Neva was a longtime member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus and as a matter of record Neva has been a member longer than anyone else at the church dating back to her youth in 1939. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:8. Neva especially enjoyed their family musicals and get togethers with piano, guitar, banjo and singing. She loved to send greeting cards and was something of a local historian and a free lance writer of poetry and stories much of which were published. She won top story in the SW Oklahoma Book, “Milking the Kickers”. She also wrote the KWHW Swap Shop music lyrics which played every Thursday. Neva Lou was a beautiful lady that loved God and she treasured helping others and she will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arthur; three sisters, Lola Gentry; Letha Long; and Ruth Northam; three brothers, Lawrence Williams; Wesley Williams; and Edward Williams; she is survived by her three children, Diana Gillihan and husband Steve of Altus; Timothy Lynn King and wife “Robynette” of Altus; and Robin A. King of Altus; five grandchildren, Joshua Jones of Blair; Angela Villarosa and husband Tim of Colorado; Scott King and wife Amanda of Frederick; Robin A. King and wife Christina of Alabama; and Mandi King of Sayre; five great grandchildren, Brenna, Noah, Camryn, Cooper, and Canyon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, her close cousin, other family members and friends.
