Obituary for Nelda lynn Gray
Nelda Lynn (Wilcox) Gray, age 71, Buncombe Creek, Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Sarrus Rehab hospital in Sherman, Texas.
Nelda was born in Warren, Oklahoma on October 20, 1948 to her parents Norman and Vesta Wilcox. She grew up in the Warren area until the family moved to Blair, Oklahoma in 1960. Nelda graduated from the Blair High School in 1966, and then attended cosmetology school and became a licensed cosmetologist. During her high school years, she met the love of her life Donnie Gray and they were married on September 26, 1966 and they enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage together. Nelda and Donnie lived in Blair until 2011, then moved to Kingston, Oklahoma to enjoy their retirement.
While living in Blair, Nelda worked several jobs, such as Kellwood CO. in Altus, Blair Food Market, and Drury Dental.
She was a member of Blair First Baptist church where she taught Sunday school, and served the church treasurer for some 25 years. She moved her membership to the Texoma Baptist Church when they moved to Buncombe Creek. Nelda loved to sing and listen to Southern Gospel Music; she sang with a Gospel mixed quartet for several years.
Nelda loved the Lord and was willing to serve in any capacity that she was able to. She was loved by many and will be missed very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Vesta Wilcox. Nelda is survived by her husband Donnie Gray, of the home. Two daughters; Melissa (Lisa) and husband Shane Seabolt of Keller, TX; Cheryl Gray of New Braunfels, TX; One granddaughter McKenna Seabolt and one brother Harold Wilcox of Kingston, Oklahoma. Brothers and Sisters-in-Laws Bobby and Karyl Ann Gray, Carl and Shelia Gray, and Sisters-in-Law Jackie Gray, and Rose Gray and Brother-in-Law Tommy Davis. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends.
The Gray family will receive friends from 9:00am - 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Blair.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Blair. Interment will follow at Blair Cemetery, Blair, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
