Obituary for Mr William Harvey Ashley
William Harvey Ashley William Harvey Ashley age 82 passed away Saturday, October 14, 2000 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born December 1, 1917 at Friendship, Oklahoma to William Harvey Ashley, Sr. and Ophila (Boyd) Ashley. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. On June1, 1939 William Harvey Ashley and Mamie Raley were united in marriage. He worked for Rounds and Porter Wholesale as a wood mill worker, and at Altus Air Force Base retiring in 1984. He was a long time member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and served as Church Treasurer, member of Woodmen of the World, was a Board Member of Community Action, former Board member of Tumbleweeds, and was named Older American of the Year by KWHW for the year 2000. He is survived by his wife Mamie Ashley of the home in Altus, two sons, David Ashley and wife Linda of Kansas City, Missouri, Don Ashley of Altus, Oklahoma, two grandsons, Jerry Ashley of Redonda Beach, California, Jim Ashley of Alexandria, Virginia: two sisters-in=law, Laura Ashley of Altus, Oklahoma, Euva Ashley of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by parents, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 18, 2000 at 2:00 PM at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. David Chittenden and Rev. Carl McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. *****Family will have visitation Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to :00 PM at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
