STOVER
Milford Ray "Pete" Stover, age 85, of Mangum, passed away early Monday morning, June 18, 2012, at his residence, in Mangum.
Mr. Stover was born on March 30, 1927, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Ney Neil and Ruth (Hankins) Stover. Growing up and attending school in Mangum, Pete left high school early, to serve his country in the United States Navy and later returned to complete his studies, graduating with the Mangum Class of 1947. On November 2, 1947, he married the love of his life, Wanda Joyce Nunn, and they were married sixty-four wonderful years before his death. They established their first home in Mangum where Pete worked for Lovett Furniture for a short time and then moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was employed by Canally Milk Company for four years. Returning to Mangum, he began working at Covington Glass Company, which he later purchased and renamed Pete"s Glass and Upholstery. Pete remained in the business until 2007, when his health forced him to semi-retire. Before he became ill, Pete enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing. He played the drums and was a member of area dance bands. Pete loved to dance with his wife Wanda and they traveled to dances throughout the area. He also enjoyed spending time in their trailer at Lake Texhoma, but his most enjoyable times were the times he spent with his family and friends. Pete attended the Church Triumphant and was a longtime member of the Elks Club where he served in various positions including the Exalted Ruler.
Preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Eugene Stover; one sister, Mary Ruth Kensing and three brothers, Travis Stover, Gene Stover and Jim Stover, he is survived by his wife Wanda Stover, of the home, in Mangum; three children, Diana Lehrman and husband Ron of Mangum, Ray Stover and wife Barbie of Mangum and Gwen Bryant and husband Jerry of Edmond; three grandchildren, Lori Monroe and husband Matt of Mangum, Krista Reese and husband Travis of Mangum and Kyle Ellis and wife Autumn of Edmond; six great grandchildren, Gabriel Monroe, Allie Monroe, Christian Reese, Kayla Reese, Cole Ellis and Cameron Ellis; one sister, Ellen Christian and husband Bubba of Victoria, Texas along with many other relatives and many, many friends.
