Mildred Laura Dunham Murray, a longtime resident of Greer County, died in Houston, Texas, on September 8 at the age of 89. Mrs. Murray was the widow of Raymond Murray, a Lake Creek farmer until his death in 1966. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Murray lived in Arkansas until she moved to the Houston area in 2000.
Born in Marquette, Michigan, Mrs. Murray became a teacher after receiving her degree in education from Southwestern State College in Weatherford in 1967. She later received Masters and Education Specialists degrees from the University of Arkansas.
Mrs. Murray is survived by two daughters, Melissa Tubb of Spring, Texas, and Susan Murray of West Harrison, New York. Her survivors also include sisters Ruth Mahan of Springdale, Arkansas, and Dorothy Davis of Ontario, Canada; son-in-law Mack Tubb; granddaughters Penny Tubb, Nancy Tubb Garavito, and Lucy Murray; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Murray Holland.
Interment will be at the Granite Cemetery.
