Obituary for Mildred Geneda Gable
GABLE
Mildred Geneda Gable, age 90, of Mangum, passed away late Thursday evening, September 29, 2011, at Grace Living Center, in Mangum.
Mrs. Gable was born on December 21, 1920, in Russell, Oklahoma to J.A. and Pearlene (Davis) Weston. A long-time resident of Greer County, Mildred graduated from Centeralvue School in 1938, as the class salutatorian and attended Altus Junior College. Following graduation she married Claude E. Jaco, Sr. on June 23, 1938, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1939. Mildred was later married six years to H.M. McClendon. They were the parents of Patricia Ann McClendon and Darrell H. McClendon. He is deceased. In 1950, Mildred began working at the Greer County Court House and for the next forty-three and one-half years she served the public in the Greer County Assessor"s Office. She married Delma Gable on May 21, 1955 and he died July 10, 1961. Mildred loved reading, writing tributes, poems and articles, and making booklets for Youth Camp. Mildred was very involved in her church, The Assembly of Jesus Christ, for sixty years where she served as a teacher, young people"s leader, assistant pastor and for the last eighteen years as the pastor of the congregation.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Claude Jaco, Jr.; one brother, Richard Weston; one sister, Frances Shaw and one granddaughter, Holly Ann Davis. She is survived by two children, Pat Tharp and husband Jerry of Mangum and Darrell McClendon and wife Jenny of Mangum; nine grandchildren, Kim Davis and husband Scott of Willow, Tonya Wilder of Mangum, Tammy Veroneau and husband Scott of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Mistie Ramos and husband Kevin of Altus, Theresa Newesome and husband Bryan of Oklahoma City, Traci Stender and husband Mike of Crestview, Florida, Randy Jaco and wife Michele of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Ronnie Jaco and wife Faith of Willow and Claude Ezra Jaco, Jr. III of New Mexico; fourteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mildred Gable will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Church of New Beginnings with Pastor Shawn Laughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
