Obituary for Michiel Scott Collier
Michiel Scott Collier, "Mike", a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

Mike was born on October 4, 1948 in Blair, Oklahoma at the home of his grandparents. He lived in Altus all of his life except for a brief time in Missouri. He attended school in Altus and Carthage, Missouri and later attended Altus Junior College and Missouri Southern College, Joplin, Missouri. He served in the Armed Forces from 1968 - 1970.

On March 9, 1968, Mike married the love of his life, Betty Allen. They were married for 53 years. After retirement, he enjoyed driving the Southern Prairie Library bookmobile. He also drove a bus for the Altus Public Schools.

Mike was a great family man with his own children as well as with his grand kids. His kid's friends were always welcome to his home and activities. Grandchildren often accompanied Mike and Betty on trips to their favorite places. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, often spending time camping. Some of Mike's nephews gave him credit for teaching them how to camp, hunt and fish. One of his favorite pastimes was watching OU football, during which you could often hear him yelling at the T.V. At home you could find Mike spending time with family and friends while grilling and smoking meats. He also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Faye Walker and Al Collier; and two brothers, Ricky and Kevin.

His wife Betty survives him at their home. In addition, he is survived by his children, Wade and Patty of Headrick, Oklahoma; and Kathryn and Tim of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jarrad Schipper; Ashlynn Schipper and Tanner Hightower; Kiersten Airington; Merritt Taylor; and Traci Rutledge; great granddaughter, Lily Schipper.

Other survivors include; brothers, Bob Collier (Linda) of Carl Junction, Missouri; Troy Walker (Kim) of Denison, Texas; a sister, Tammy Riddle (Billy) of Lehi, Utah; an aunt; and uncle; and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial services will at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the family home in Headrick, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
