Micheal Anthony Stephens, 72, of Mangum Oklahoma, passed away on June 21, 2023, after a long illness complicated by COVID.
Micheal was born on February 4,1951 to Archie Stephens Jr and Barbara Jean (Cain) Stephens in Cordell Oklahoma. He spent part of his young life and adolescence living around the US and Europe with his mother, Barbara, and stepfather, Robert Ellison who was an officer in the US Army. After attending high school in Canyon Texas, he went on to enlist in the Army. He served honorably in Vietnam as a Green Beret with SOG-CCN Special Forces. After returning to the US, he was a drill instructor at Ft. Ord in California.
After his military service, he went on to work in the oilfield and as a truck driver until his retirement in 2021. Micheal was an avid golfer and loved to travel around the country. His family was the light of his life and spending time with them was what meant everything to him.
In 1977, he met Debra L. Patton in Arnett, Oklahoma where they were married on March 9,1978. They have 2 children, Anastacia R Hamlett and Damon M. Stephens.
Micheal was preceded in death by his father Archie Stephens Jr., his mother and stepfather, Barbara J. and Robert D. Ellison, and his brother Robbie Ellison. He is survived by his stepmother, Marthe Gross of Columbus MS, 4 brothers, Chris Stephens and Elizabeth of Longview, TX, Danny Stephens and Dawn of Columbus MS, Patrick Stephens and Isabella of Nogales AZ, and Richard Stephens of Copperas Cove, TX. One sister, Jackie Ebisch, and Billy of Lawton OK. His two children, Anastacia R. Hamlett and Levi Hamlett of Gotebo OK, and Damon M Stephens and Nicka of Mangum, OK. 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at Greer Funeral home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
