Obituary for Michael R. Johnson
Michael Ray Johnson, born February 12, 2004, in Altus, Oklahoma left our lives June 29, 2025, in Childress, Texas. Michael was the third of four brothers adopted by Patricia Johnson, his mother and grandmother; he grew up in Hollis, Oklahoma and attended Hollis public schools and graduated in 2024. Michael has struggled with health issues since birth. His birth weight was 1 lbs. 14 oz, so small you could hold him in just one hand. Through his childhood he was in and out of hospitals whether it was Children's Hospital's in Oklahoma City Oklahoma or Amarillo, Texas. Michael's body was all underdeveloped as he grew and got older. He was tested several times to see if he could tolerate anything by mouth and found out rather quickly that unfortunately, it wasn't going to happen. With this outcome, Mikey lived through feeding tubes and an oxygen machine since birth. His medication and milk was served through his feeding tube as well as medications having to be ground down really fine to pass through his tube. All the doctors said they didn't expect him to make it six months to a year due to his underdevelopment and size of growth and weight, but with determination and perseverance, Patricia would stay on top of his health and well-being with lots of support from others and caring for all the boys. Later he started showing signs of having really good memories. We call it a photographic one. He used it against his mom, brother Cameron, and purchased games and movies on his phone or tablet then he would tell you I'm done now or do it again. Mikey was very funny at times as well as being goofy. He loved to holler out and ask "what you doing?" He enjoyed playing games, watching videos, and movies at the same time with Cameron or other family members, and of course his number one friend Bunny was given to Michael by his first surgeon in Oklahoma City by the hospital 21 years ago on Easter. Bunny was there through everything: school, doctor visits, and surgeries. The only times Bunny wasn't there was when he went to the washer or the dryer and he hated it! Granny G made clothes for Bunny so Mikey could dress him up for every occasion. It was always sunshine and rainbows, even on rainy days for Mikey even when he didn't feel good. He was always ready to go riding in cars with Cameron, Mom, Robin, Randi, and aunt Kathy as long as it was in the van or big truck to be able to see everything and listen to his music. He was always ready to go shopping as long as he could take his movies or games. Michael was a very strong person. He fought every day for life against all odds, fighting all the way, even at the end. Sometimes obstacles needed lots of encouragement, but the end result was always worth it big smiles, and a face would light up and shine his eyes with sparkle. He would get so excited that he would say OK I'm done. Anyone who met Michael from birth to his last day here will miss him. He made an impression on people's lives. We love you Michael always will.
