Obituary for Michael Kevin Claiborne
Two minutes past midnight on January First, 1963, Michael Kevin Claiborne entered this world at Norman Municipal Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma as the Cleveland County New Year"s Baby of 1963. Forty-six years, seven and one-half months later, God called Michael home at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas at 7:00 a.m., August 20, 2009.
Michael attended public schools at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Atwater, California, and Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School in 1982. In 1995, Michael began training as a heating and air conditioning specialist at the Caddo-Kiowa VO TECH Training Center at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, graduating with honors in 1997.
During his training at Fort Cobb, an instructor named Sarge dared Mike to ask a young lady name Lisa for a date. From this date, he met his soul mate and the love of his life. Mike and Lisa Colomb were married in March 1997 in Altus, Oklahoma with the Honorable Judge Suzanne Mollison officiating. The package deal included two lovely young children, Sydney and Mark.
With his new family and vocation, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where he honed his skills as a heating and air conditioning specialist. In February 2002, Mike joined the maintenance staff of the Allen Independent School District in Allen, Texas, as an HVAC technician and specialist.
Michael is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Sydney, and son Mark of their home in Allen, Texas; his parents James Frank and Anita Claiborne of Altus, Oklahoma; a brother and sister-in-law, William Russell and Tracey Claiborne, a niece, Caitlin and nephew Allen James of Worcester, Massachusetts; a brother and sister-law, David Frank and Erin Claiborne, and niece Emma of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his grandmother, Alyne Claiborne of Altus, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, D.H. and Velma Trent; grandfather, Frank Claiborne; and a special uncle, David Trent, all of Altus, Oklahoma.
Services for Michael Kevin Claiborne will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2009, with the Reverend Suzanne Mollison officiating. Michael"s family will greet friends during visitation hours between 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Family and friends will dearly miss Michael and will always cherish the fond memories, goodness, laughter, and pleasure he brought to our lives.
