Merced Saavedra, 72, of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Merced was born September 24, 1942 in Tortugas Rayon S.L.P., Mexico to Apolinar and Octavia (Hernandez) Saavedra. He came to the USA as a small child and has lived in Hollis for over sixty years. He married Henrietta Luna on September 18, 1988 in Memphis, Texas. He worked as a cotton ginner for the Harmon County Co-op in Hollis. Merced was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Merced was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Alecia Saavedra. His is survived by his wife, Henrietta Saavedra, of the home; one daughter, Myrna Castor of Mexico; three step children, Robert Jaramillo, Bertha Jaramillo, and Eddie Jaramillo all of Hollis; his siblings, Magdaleno Saavedra, Anselmo Saavedra, Victoria Saavedra, Moises Saavedra, Pilar Saavedra, Valentina Olmos, Juan Saavedra, Elva Chavez, and J. Concepcion Saavedra; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel in Hollis, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, OK under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis, Oklahoma.
