Obituary for Maureen Jean Sutherland
Maureen Jean Sutherland, 83 of Altus Passed away November 28, 2020. Maureen was born and educated in a land she loves-England. She married her husband Robert June 1, 1957 In England. From this union two sons were born Charles and Danny Sutherland and one granddaughter Jessica.
Standing firm on the inspired Word of God, Maureen was passionate in her walk with the Lord. She has encouraged thousands of women through conferences, retreats etc., all over the USA. Sharing personal experiences, and affirming that we are “precious†in HIs sight, unique in design, being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory.
Beyond her passion to share His Word in our Jerusalem and Judea, God gave her a hunger to go into the uttermost parts of the world, and she has served with mission teams to Brazil, Malawi, Romania, Hungary and Kenya.
As God led, in March 2004, she became a proud American Citizen.
An active member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, teaching a ladies’ Sunday School class, conference director and an active part of the Music Ministry, Maureen was a Joy to be around and always such an encourager.
Preceded in death by her parents, survivors include, Her Husband Robert, her two sons Charles and Danny along with a precious granddaughter Jessica.
Services are scheduled for Thursday December 3, at 10:00 A.M. in the Lowell-Tims Chapel.
Graveside services are private.
