Obituary for Marylyn Joy Sheehan
Marylyn Joy Sheehan, 81, passed away on October 13, 2021, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.
Marylyn was born on September 3, 1940 in Villes Platt, Louisiana, to parents Charles Benton Jones and Elsie Naomi (Alexander) Jones. At the age of two, she moved to Owyenyo, California where she remained until her graduation from Owyenyo High School in 1958. After graduation, she attended Luftkins Business School.
Marylyn was employed as a typist for TV News Channels 29 and 23 where she developed stories until her departure in 1970. In 1974, she began working for the Meat Cutters Union as a receptionist. The union merged with United Food and Commercial union local 1036, she retired as assistant to the president in 1996.
Marylyn met Lavon Dale Sheehan through mutual friends in 1958. The two married on September 6, 1960 in Reno, Nevada. Their unbreakable bond lasted 59 faithful years until Dale's death in 2019.
In her spare time, Marylyn loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, She won many awards and recognitions throughout her career and was always helping people with union insurance problems. She loved her union members and considered them family. Marylyn also enjoyed line dancing. On a deeper level, Marylyn was a selfless, loving person who always put others first and cared for everyone around her.
Marylyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elsie Jones; and her husband, Lavon Dale Sheehan.
She leaves to cherish her warm memory, her daughter: Boni Rinnman and husband, Mark of Ft. Gibson, Ok; two sons: Kelly Allan Sheehan and Lloyd Edward Jones of Santa Marie, California; two grandchildren: Kyle William Rinnman and his wife, Nichole, of Broken Arrow, OK; and Kaitlan Maxwell of Modesto, CA; a great-grandson: William Lennon Rinnman of Broken Arrow, OK; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
