Obituary for Mary Pearl Strickland
Mary Pearl (Elliot) Strickland, a longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away November 27, 2020. Mary was raised in Hollis and graduated from Hollis High School and went on to Western State Oklahoma College where she received her college degree. She married the love of her life Jimmy Ted Strickland on November 27, 1946, in Hollis and they enjoyed over seventy-four years of marriage together. Mary lived in Sudan, Texas, and Hollis where she worked for the Harmon County Ambulance service for many years until she retired at the age of seventy-six. Mary took care of the family and was Jimmy’s partner with all their farming, ranching, and custom harvesting work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis and she enjoyed traveling to see friends and family on the holidays and she always received great joy in helping others. Mary was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who love her family dearly and she will be missed very much.

Mary is survived by her husband Jimmy Ted Strickland; two sons, Jim L. Strickland; and Joel Strickland; sister Doris McElroy; grandchildren, Deric Sheriff, Jay Sheriff, Danny Sheriff; Byron Strickland, Lisa Strickland-Hill, T.J. Strickland, Lucas Scott Strickland, Erica Schapka, Carl Strickland, and Mary Ann Strickland; many great and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
