Mary Lou Berry, age 76, of Granite, passed away, Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Grace Living Center, in Mangum.
Mrs. Berry was born on January 8, 1934, to L.H. and Inez Mae (Dean) VanAusdall, in Greer County, Oklahoma. After graduating from Lake Creek School in 1952, she married Alvin Berry on December 10, 1953. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1996. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Willow where Alvin managed the Willow Gin for many years. In 1960, the family moved to Granite and Mary Lou worked at the Willow, Granite and Mangum branches of the Guarantee State Bank. After her retirement, she continued living in Granite until her health began to fail in 2008, when she moved to Grace Living Center in Mangum.
Preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; one son, Dewayne Berry, in 2007; two brothers, Pete VanAusdall and Johnny VanAusdall, she is survived by three children, Debbie L. Poahway of Granite, Stan Berry of Granite and Melinda Landers and husband Kevin of Boydville; seven grandchildren, Jessie Lou Poahway, Tyler Beau Poahway, Luke Berry Poahway, Russell Berry, Casey Berry, Matthew Berry and Amanda Miedel; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Bet See, Bobby Herring, Inez Copeland and Martha Sue Ousley; one brother, Joe VanAusdall; one sister-in-law, Lillie Mae VanAusdall; one ex son-in-law, Forrest Poahway and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Lou Berry will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Granite with Rev. Jim Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
