Mary "Kay" Waldroop, 82, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away October 25, 2022, at Magnolia Creek Skilled Nursing and therapy, Altus, Oklahoma.
Kay was born September 1, 1940, in Altus, Oklahoma to Bryan Biles and Mary (Huston) Biles. She was raised and educated in Altus, Oklahoma and graduated from Altus High School in 1958. Following high school, she married Garland Waldroop. This marriage would be blessed with four children, Janie, Renee, Lee and Bryan. During their marriage they lived in many places, Texas, Tennessee, and Colorado. While raising her children she attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Mary received two master's degrees in English and history. She taught in primary education in Tipton, Synder, and was a professor of English at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Oklahoma. She retired from teaching and began helping her husband oversee the operations of their construction company Waldroop Construction for many years.
Kay was a Christian woman and was raised and baptized at the First Christian Church of Altus, Oklahoma.
She enjoyed reading and studying history, focusing her education on early American History. Mary took incredible pride in making beautiful quilts that she gifted to her family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan Biles and Mary (Huston) Biles, daughters, Kelly D'Ann Waldroop, Janie Luke; grandsons, Lane Martin, Trey Waldroop, the father of her children, Garland Waldroop.
Left to honor Kay's memory are, Sons, Bryan Waldroop, Yukon, Oklahoma, Lee Waldroop, Pueblo, CO; Daughter, Renee Martin, of Altus, Oklahoma; twelve Grandchildren; twenty -two Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
The Waldroop family will receive friends at Lowell- Tims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022.
