Obituary for Mary Arvilla Howard
Mary Arvilla Howard, 73, of Altus, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at English Village Manor.
Mary was born on December 26, 1951, in Amarillo, Texas to Roy Amos and Bernice Mae (Burnett) Stephenson. She grew up in Claude, Texas and graduated from Claude High School. Mary then attended Clarendon College before transferring to West Texas State University, where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Mary worked as an elementary school teacher until her health began to decline.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward Stephenson; and a sister, Frances Stephenson.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Howard; her daughter, Amie Howard; two sisters, Evelyn Davis and Lawona Guynes; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Claude Cemetery with Pastor Ben Partin officiating. Local arrangements and cremation services are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
