Mary Franklin, age 77 of Altus, Oklahoma and formerly of Arkansas, passed away, Sunday morning, September 4, 2016 at the English Village Manor in Altus.
Mary was born in Quebeck, Tennessee on September 18, 1938 and was raised primarily in Altus and the surrounding areas of southwest Oklahoma. In 1956 she married Fred Wallace Franklin and they enjoyed many years of marriage together before Fred"s death in 1963. Mary was a member of the Church of God in Altus and she enjoyed crocheting, reading and listening to music.
Preceded in death by her father and her husband; two brothers, Walter Bradley and Emmitt Payne; Mary is survived by her mother, Ella May Houck of Altus; her son Wallace Franklin and wife Daffa of Quitman, Arkansas; two brothers, David Payne and wife Debbie of Texas; and Mike Payne and wife Cathy of Altus; three sisters, Faye Moore of Altus; Barbara Palmer and husband Dwayne of Altus; and Deborah Payne of Kansas; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Goodpastor; one great grandson, Jason Goodpaster; as well as numerous step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
The funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 9, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Fairchild officiating. The graveside will follow at Blair Cemetery, Blair, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
