Obituary for Martha Russell Raley

Martha Russell (O"Neal) Raley, age 99, of Altus, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Martha was born August 21, 1913, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to D.A. and Martha Erie (Russell) O"Neal. The family came to Altus, OK, in January, 1920. They moved from Martha, OK, in January 1922, to the Porter High community, southwest of Altus. Martha graduated from Porter High School in 1933.
On August 1, 1942, she married Homer Raley, in Lawton, Oklahoma, where they made their home until October, 1945. Moving back to the Porter High Community, they bought their farm home, where they lived until their deaths. Martha was a member of the Southside Baptist Church for over fifty years and served as Sunday School secretary for several of those years. A Christian wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Martha loved taking care of her family and in her spare time she enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Sallie Wright, Nell Copeland and Ruth Ann Harmon; four brothers, Jack, Bill, Sam and Kenneth O"Neal.
She is survived by one daughter, her only child, Diane Raley Landers of Altus; two grandchildren, Justin Wade Landers and wife Jamie, and Jamie Lynn Everett and husband Scott, all of Altus; two great grandsons, Jesse Stevens and Ty Stevens; one great granddaughter, Maggie Belle Landers, one sister-in-law, Betty Tipton and husband Orley Tipton; as well as special friends, Druanne and Londyn Hinojosa, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Martha Raley will be at 2 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Southside Baptist Church with Randy O"Neal and Pastor Jason Duree officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 6 until 7 p.m.
