Obituary for Marie Elder
Marie Elder, 89, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away at her home Sunday morning, January 5, 1997. Services have been scheduled for 9 am Tuesday, at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elder was born May 7, 1907, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of John Lee and Anna Pearl (Justus) Watterson. She moved to the Chattanooga/Frederick area as a small child. On March 7, 1929, she and F.H. "Hoke" Elder were united in marriage at Mangum, Oklahoma, by Mr. Elder's uncle, John Elder. The made their home in the Altus area. Mr. Elder preceded her in death on April 15, 1963. Mrs Elder was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and a long time resident of Altus.
Survivors include children Ella M. Hinson of Purcell, Oklahoma, James R. Elder and Carol of Burleson, Texas, JoAnn Elder of Altus, Oklahoma, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by parents, husband 2 brothers and 1 sister.
