Obituary for Marian Blackwell
Marian Blackwell was born February 24, 1918 in Buford South Carolina. She was the daughter of late William Arthur and Addie Eunice (Long) Lingle. She died, January 4, 2003 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
She married Will Blackwell, August 4, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Altus, and Will preceded her in death, December 12, 2002.
Marian had been a resident of Altus and Jackson County most of her life. She graduated from Blair High School in 1936 and then attended business college in Fresno, California. Upon graduation she returned to Altus and worked form Will Appleby over 15 years before retiring. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught in the kindergaren Sunday School Class over 50 years.
Survivors include children Neil Brackwell and Lori of Altus, Lea May and Bill of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister in law Clarice Lingle of Altus, Ok., five grandchildren Jamie Blackwell, Altus, Ok., Chad Blackwell, Altus, Ok., Kristin May, Cody May, and Carson May all of Edmond, Oklahoma. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, husband, seven brothers and one sister.
Services for Marian Blackwell are scheduled for 11 am Wednesday, January 8, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Marian Blackwell will greet friends, Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home form 6:30-8:00pm.
