Obituary for Margaret Lee Ashley
Margaret Lee Ashley, 87 of Olustee, died Sunday, February 21, 1999 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Olustee with Rev. Noel George officiating. Interment will follow in the Olustee Cemetery.
Margaret was born December 19, 1911 in Olustee to the late James Robert and Eva Lena (Combs) Simmons. On March 6, 1930, Margaret and the late William Frederick "Fred" Ashley were united in marriage at the Jackson County Court House. During the war they made New Mexico their home, where Fred passed away in 1965. She moved back to Jackson County to be with her family.
Survivors include four children, Freda Lou Ashley of Altus, Jo Ellen Williams of Bradenton, FL, Jaynelle Cash and husband, Ed, of Oklahoma City and John Ashley and wife, Susie of Altus; two sisters, Oleta Robertson of Olustee and Gwen Swain and Husband,
Alex of Olustee; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special friends, Bob and Shirley Petkoff and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; one son, Lloyd Ashley and one sister, Audrey Talbot.
