Obituary for Mamie "Estelle" Knox
Mamie Estelle Know, age 81, long-time Altus resident, died Monday, March 22, 1999 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 25, 1999 at 2:00pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. David Cittenden and Rev. Gene Willcut officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
She was born February 28, 1918 in Justin, Texas to the late Ben and Pearl (Lee) Sherman. She moved to Altus at a very young age with her parents, who farmed in the Friendship Community. On December 28, 1935 Estelle and C.J. Know were united in marriage in Warren, Oklahoma..C.J. preceded her in death on January 17, 1989. She was a nurse at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital for 20 years and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda McCollum and husband, Wayne of Keytesville, MO and Annell Heard and husband, Wyatt of Uvalde, Texas; four grandchildren, Glenda McCoy, Vickie Chambers, Sidney Heard and Jeffery Heard; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Chambers, Deborah Chambers and Daniel McCoy and one brother, L.B. Sherman of Enid, Oklahoma.
