M.E. "Cooter" Hooper


Funeral services for M.E. " Cooter" Hooper, 80, of Elmer are scheduled for 2:00pm, Tuesday February 9, at the Lowell-Tims funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery. Rev. Melvin Moody will officiate. Mr. Hooper died Sunday at the local hospital. Mr. Hooper was born October 23, 1912 in Hess to Carl and Jewel Hooper. Mr. Hooper was a member of the Hess Baptist Church, as well as Masonic Lodge # 196. Mr. Hooper married Opal Muse August 9, 1941 in Hess. Mr. Hooper was a county employee where her had operated a Maintainer. Lowell-Tims funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Opal Hooper of the home, children, Billy Emerson and Merlene of Altus, Oklahoma; brothers, Cecil Hooper of Phoenix, Arizona; Pete Hooper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Dixie Shaw of Kenner, La.; one grandchild Bruce and his wife Diana Emerson of Elmer, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren; Sara and Alisa Emerson of Elmer, Oklahoma.

Preceded in death by parents, one brother Clayton Elsworth.
