Lurlene Williams
Lurlene Williams, age 89 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Lurlene was born January 23, 1929, at Ozark, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late John and Gladys Williams Gresham.
Lurlene graduated from Ozark High School in 1947. She was a member of the last graduating class where she was salutatorian. She was all county in basketball her junior and senior years. Lurlene Gresham married Murray Williams December 21, 1946 and he preceded her in death October 13, 2017. She was the first National Chairwoman of the Grown and Made In the USA Cotton Program. She was a long time and very active member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a Sunday School teacher and Training Union teacher and active in the GA's. Lurlene was a wonderful cook and adored all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children, Eddie and Tina Williams of Altus; Fran Gabler of Lubbock, Texas, and Rann and Kerri Williams of Altus; grandchildren, Reesa Qualia and husband Rick of Lubbock, Texas; Randy and Melissa Gabler, Reno, Nevada; Dedee Emory and husband Jason of Altus; Brooke Ragan and husband Doug of Ft. Worth, Texas; Bunny Stanphill and husband Steven, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Will and Jake Qualia, Luke and Claire Gabler, Allie and Bailey Goodpaster, Harper Emory, Ike and Frankie Ragan, Harrison and Emaline Stanphill, McKenzie and Callie Emory.
Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry Gresham, her husband, Murray, and son-in-law Denny Gabler.
Services for Lurlene Williams will be Monday, February 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore and Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Entombment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
