Obituary for Lupe Zepeda
Guadalupe "Lupe" Zepeda, age 85, longtime Hollis, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Lupe was born in Whitsett, Texas on December 10, 1934 to her parents Sofio and Estella (Fuentes) Cuellar. She was raised in San Antonio, Texas and she met Jesus Zepeda in Pleasanton, Texas while he was traveling through the area with harvest work. They were married and settled in Hollis, Oklahoma in the early 1960's and they enjoyed many years of marriage together before Jesus's death in 1991. Lupe worked cleaning houses around Hollis and she stayed active volunteering for the Salvation Army and traveled to Altus as an alternate board member for Southwest Community Action. Lupe has been a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Hollis. She enjoyed going to bingo in Hollis and Altus, doing various puzzles, and collecting rooster ceramics. Lupe loved to travel, she traveled to California, Colorado, and the Gulf Coast but most of all Lupe enjoyed staying at her home in Hollis.
Preceded in death by her husband Jesus Zepeda; her parents, Sofio and Estella Cuellar; two sons, Johnny Hidalgo; and David Hidalgo; two brothers, Lupe Cuellar; and Alford Cuellar; two sisters, Janie Cuellar; and Carolina Zepeda; Lupe is survived by her son Jessie Zepeda and his wife Lisa of Altus; her daughter, Rosa Hidalgo of Hollis; three grandchildren, Ricky Hidalgo of San Antonio, Texas; Michael Hidalgo and his wife Gladys of Menard, Texas; and Shara Zepeda of Hollis; seven great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
The family will greet friends at Visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel in Hollis with Pastor Jesse Cantu officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
