Obituary for Lucile Shoumake
Lucile Shoumake passed away Friday October 24, 1997, at the English Village Nursing Home at the age of 84.
Lucile was born December 25, 1912, in Hooker, Oklahoma, to Silas and Edith (White) Smith. She entered the United States Navy during World War II as a Navy Wave on May 18, 1943, Honorably Discharged on September 21, 1943.
Lucile married Wallace H. Shoumake May 22, 1948, in sand Springs, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She was a retired school teacher and a long-time member of the American Association of University Women. Lucile was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus.
Lucile is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Eddie Becerra of Altus; one son, Howard Shoumake of North Carolina; two sisters, Wilma Hanson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lorine Dewey of Dallas Texas; one grandson, Brandon Keith Becerra and his wife of Martha Oklahoma.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Roy Smith.
