Lovena D. Hunt, a lifetime resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on January 8, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1948, in Pacific Grove, California, to Willie “Frank” and Pernia “Lovena” Bowen.
The family left California shortly after Lovena's birth and relocated to the Mangum area for a short time before moving to Oklahoma City.
Lovena pursued her passion for beauty and care by attending Central State Beauty College. When she graduated as a licensed beautician. She devoted most of her career to working in nursing homes, lovingly caring for residents and ensuring they always felt beautiful and dignified. She retired after many years of dedicated service.
Lovena had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, most notably chihuahuas and small dogs, as well cats and birds. Caring for her pets brought her great joy.
A devout Catholic, Lovena lived her faith through compassion and service. She was known for her generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need. She often went out of her way to care for others.
Lovena was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sheila Day; granddaughter, Amber Billings; also preceding her in death were Laverne Hunt, Oscar F. Bowen, Linda Loller, Clarence “Butch” Bowen, and Tony Bowen.
Lovena leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Shirley V. Wolff; Brother, Chester Bowen and wife Donna; Son, Roger Day Jr., and daughter Drenda Duell; her dear friend Sue Ann Hogue, and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
She will be remembered for her love of animals and her commitment to caring for others.
