Obituary for Louis Earl Fite
Louis Earl Fite, 76, passed away Tuesday, February 1st surrounded by his family at his home in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Louis was born July 23rd, 1945 to Edgar and Mattie Lou (Vinson) Fite in Elk City, Oklahoma. He attended Brinkman school and graduated from Mangum High School in 1963. Louis continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he was in ROTC and then served in the Army National Guard. On August 4th, 1973 he married the love of his life, Patrecia Ann Zett, at the Willow Methodist Church. After marriage, Louis and Pat made their home west of Willow, OK where he farmed and ranched. They had two children, David and Megan.
In 1979, Louis and his family moved to Mangum, OK. Then in 1983, he opened the Circle F Gin and Feed Store. In addition to working hard to serve his customers, Louis enjoyed many cups of coffee, good conversation, and laughs with friends who stopped by. After closing the cotton gin, he expanded his feed store business by obtaining a patent on Gold Nugget dog food and distributing it to small businesses in Oklahoma and Texas. In 2000, Louis resumed ranching while continuing his feed store business. He retired in 2008.
Louis always had a special affection for animals. His patience and gentle nature shined through working with his cattle, training his bird dogs, and caring for his many special pets. After retirement, Louis continued to enjoy his lifelong love of hunting, fishing and spending time at the farm. He also loved spending quality time with his family and being "Pop" to his three precious grandchildren. Louis loved the Lord. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church where he first attended the Willow Methodist Church as a child and young man. Then after moving, he and his family began attending the Mangum First United Methodist Church where he was a faithful member and continued to use his gift of helping others.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mattie Lou Fite.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat Fite; son David Fite and wife Candy of Mangum, OK; daughter Megan O'Briant and husband Rhett of Piedmont, OK; three grandchildren, Rigley Fite, Mya and Sam O'Briant: brother Vinson Fite and Lenora Ann of Willow, OK; sister-in-law Janice (Zett) Randolph and husband Randy of Quanah, TX; four special nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins, family members, and friends.
