Obituary for Lou Ella Conner
Lou Ella Conner, 82, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away at her home in Altus Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
Lou Ella was born January 23, 1929, in White Wright, Texas, to the late Lewis and Ethel Mae (Darst) McCartney. She married Marvin L. Conner April 3, 1948, in Childress, Texas. He preceded her in death August 2, 2003. She was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, for whom she loved to cook her excellent meals. She and family moved from Hollis, Oklahoma, in 1962, and she had been a resident of Altus since that time. Lou Ella enjoyed dancing at the community center in Altus where she loved two-step country-western dancing on Saturday nights. She loved to help people, donating over twelve gallons of blood. Lou Ella was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Warren and Altus.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Bertha, Lou Ella is survived by two sons, Loyd Conner and wife Shirley (Schlecht) Conner of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Marvin Carrol "Butch" Conner and wife Lisa (Hasty) Conner of Friendship, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mildred Holman of Midland, Texas, and Doreatha Horton of Big Spring, Texas; three grandchildren, Brandy Conner Glover and husband Stephen of Mustang, Oklahoma, Cindy and Ivan Hernandez of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Nicolas Conner and fianc"e Kerra Lewis of Friendship, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Hernandez and Xavier Hernandez; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss her bright smile.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 2, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell- Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Lou Ella Conner will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
