Obituary for Lonnie Briscoe
Lonnie Briscoe was born August 10, 1924 at Hess, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Phelps) Briscoe. He attended school at Southside. He served in the US Army during World War II, where he served from 1944 to 1946. He married Wanda June Ford, January 9, 1943 in Hollis, Oklahoma.
An active businessman in Altus he owned and operated Briscoes Texaco for 39 years. He was an active member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife Wanda June Briscoe, of Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters Fredda Goebel of Longwood Florida and Shelley Myatt of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister Opal of Altus, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Amy Wagner, Laura Engle, Trey Richards, Jill and Matthew Myatt; two greatgrandchildrenand a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters; Leonard,
Lester, Lloyd, Leland, and Leon Briscoe, Ethel Fowler, and Wilma Burrow.
Services for Lonnie Briscoe will be held Friday, September 21, 2001 at the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ at 2:00pm . Officiating will be Bill Osborne and Tom Bailey. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
