Obituary for Linda Ruth Olson
Linda Ruth Olson, 72, a resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away December 18, 2019 in Oklahoma City.
Linda was born in Quanah, Texas on September 15, 1947 to her parents Delvin and Billie Ruth Freeman. She grew up in Eldorado, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. Linda went on to higher education earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Linda married the love of her life Edward Olson and they enjoyed over 21 years of marriage together until Edward's death in 1999. Linda was a teacher in Altus at Rivers Elementary School for many years until she retired in 1998. She was a longtime member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Odell, Texas and she also was a proud member of the Jackson County Democratic Women and the Retired Teachers Association. Linda enjoyed arts and crafts, watching her brothers baseball teams and she always enjoyed being involved with and attending the Retired Teachers and Democratic Women's meetings, and Linda always took great care of her cats. But most of all, Linda loved her students and teaching was her favorite thing to do in life. Linda also enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends and she will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by her father, Delvin Freeman; and her husband Edward Olson;
Linda is survived by her mother Billie Ruth Freeman; her two brothers and sister, Gary Freeman; Danny and wife Gaylene Freeman; and Kathy Freeman; her niece Amber McMahon; and her nephew, Seth Freeman; and her great nephew, Kastin McMahon; as well as many other family members and friends.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Eldorado Cemetery, Eldorado, Oklahoma.
