Obituary for Lela Ruth Marsh
Lela Ruth Marsh, age 92, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away April 28, 2009 at English Village Nursing Home.
Lela was born in Kiowa County, on the family farm, to George and Nevada Barlow Newton on April 18, 1917. She married Melvin Marsh on May 2, 1933 and they had 69 wonderful years together befor he passed away on October 18, 2002.
She was a lifelong resident of Southwest Oklahoma. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for many years. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.
Lela is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Nita Ledbetter of Oklahoma City, Patsy Kuchar of Altus, and Rita Pantalena of Guilford, CT; seven grandchildren, Brenda Daniel, Carl Gaver, Robin Leonard, Ronald Pantalena Jr., Davin Ledbetter, Frank Marsh Pantalena and Daniel Pantalena; 24 greatgrandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; her son, Lavon Marsh; her parents; five sisters, Gertrude Newton, Minnie Burrows, Ruby Hubbard, Fern Boyd and Opal Hunter; and by four brothers, Brownlow, Chester, Frank and Jessie Newton.
Services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
