Obituary for Lee A. Ewing
Lee A. Ewing, Jr. passed away Monday, November 25th, 1996. Lee was born on April 25th, 1921, in Altus, Oklahoma, the son of Lee A. and Gussie Ewing. He was a lifelong resident of Altus. Lee was a graduate of Altus High School. He also attended Altus Junior College, Southern Methodist University and Texas Tech. Lee served in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he trained as a pilot.
On March 7, 1949, Lee and Angeleen Massad were united in marriage in Ft. Worth, TX. They made their home in Altus. Lee worked with the Bureau of Reclamation, was a District Representative for the J.A. Folger & Company, and as Warehouse Buyer for the City of Altus from 1964-1983. After his retirement, he served on the Altus City Council from 1987-1991. He was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Club, Oklahoma Heritage Association, Oklahoma Senior Advocates, American Legion, Oklahoma Municipal League, Good Sam's, and WOSC Pionair Flying Club.
Lee was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. He served as President of the Excelsior Sunday School class for over 10 years. Lee and Angie made an unbeatable team in their efforts to serve God and their fellow man. Angie passed away on November 22, 1995, and Lee in poor health was, in turn, so lovingly served by their many friends. So very many will miss him, but are comforted in knowing he is at peace and rejoined with his beloved wife Angie.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Angie, of 46 years; his parents; one brother, Darrel, and one sister Evelyn.
He is survived by sisters-in-law, LaFonne Leeper of El Paso, TX, Ethel Keegan of Lawton, OK, Marguerite Shadid of Altus, OK, Dorothy Weinstein of Dallas, TX, Alia Massad and Jeri Massad also of Lawton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
