Obituary for Laura Marie Karns
Laura Marie Karns (Haas) was called home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2026, at her residence in Altus, OK. Laura was born on October 28, 1964, in Ann Arbor, MI, daughter to Dennis H. Haas of Dexter, MI, and the late Lorraine Haas of Dexter, MI. Laura is survived by her family whom she loved dearly: her daughter, Tiffany Smith, married to T. Michael Smith of Everett, PA, parents of Braxton, Braelin, Bruce, Brynleigh, and Bayzleigh Smith; daughter, Patricia Cady, married to Paul Cady of Lebanon, CT, parents of Keira and Paul Matthew Cady; and a daughter, Heather Karns, married to Beau Allen of Olustee, OK, parents of Chloe and Lexie Rosalez (father, Carlos Rosalez), Gavin Williams, and Jeau Lynn and Bradley Allen. She is also survived by her sister, Tammy Christie, married to William Christie of Northville, MI; uncle in law, Herman D. Hoffman of Newburgh, IN; cousin, Linda Hay of Ann Arbor, MI; and many other relatives, extended family, and dear friends.

Laura is preceded in death by her beloved son and U.S. Army veteran, Jacob Karns; her grandmother, Martha I. Haas; grandfather, Harold D. Haas; and an aunt, Ida M. Hoffman.

Laura lived in Michigan during her childhood; she grew up on Joslin Lake in a quaint and cozy cottage. She rode horses, water skied, boated, and enjoyed lake life into her adult years with her four children and family. She eventually would live in California for a few years, Missouri for over a decade, Oklahoma for a long time, Pennsylvania for a brief time, and back to Oklahoma - her final earthly place. She is in the most Beautiful Place now, in Heaven, with Jesus.

Laura was a woman of God; she loved the Lord. We find comfort knowing she is in His loving arms now, with Jacob, her son, and our brother, we have missed so so dearly since his passing in 2020.

She loved to travel, explore, and live in new places. She was funny, adventurous, and a free spirit. Her resume of various places she called home are stamps of that love for adventure. She loved people and was ambitious. In addition to her four children, she worked as a CNA much of her life as well as in medical office administration, dental assistant, and drove a school bus for some years for Knox County Schools. She owned a restaurant she named the Four Seasons Cafe in Edina, MO for a few years, where most of our hilarious childhood memories occurred.

She loved her family and friends immensely. She loved being a grandma to her 11 grandchildren so much. She loved her sister, Tammy, in Michigan, and so many other good people. She loved and cared so much for you all. You all know who you are. Her three daughters can never thank you all enough for the kindness, the love, and support you had shown our mom through her years, through various times of her life. You were all there at some point and we thank you for that. We are grateful for you and thankful to have known you all. God, family, and friends were everything to Laura. And God, family, and friends are everything to us as well. We appreciate you all and we know Laura appreciated and loved you all dearly.

A little more about Laura as we honor her memory: she loved church, family reunions, home interior, and Tupperware parties back in the day. She was an artist and crafty, loved people, and could talk for hours. She had a big heart, loved animals and nature. She appreciated people and experiences.

We will miss you so much mom, it feels too soon and too fast. Way too soon but He has called you home, so you had to go. We find comfort in knowing you and Jake are back together. You missed him so much, and we know he is so glad to see you too. And you both are in Jesus's loving arms right now. That brings us comfort. We will see you both again, as we are eternal. He promised that those with the Lord in their hearts will all have everlasting life together forever with him and with all our loved ones. We will all be together again and it will be so beautiful mom. We love you so much!

The Karns family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Arrangements and cremation are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
