Obituary for Lasara Felan
Lasara Felan, 95, Altus, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Lasara Felan was born on December 17, 1930, in Brookshire, Texas to Andres Romero and Agapita Elizaida. She grew up in the Houston area before the family moved to Nebraska for work. When she was eighteen, she moved to Altus. Lasara began her calling for service by working in a diner in Altus. She joined the Salvation Army in 1952 where she fulfilled her calling of being the hands and feet of Jesus. Lasara married Braulio "Bob" Felan in Vernon, Texas on May 5, 1969. She never met a stranger and would go above and beyond if someone were in need. She used her servant skills as a caregiver to many in the area. Lasara also used her talents as a certified nurse aide and for hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Melissa Debra (Smith) Bost; a son, Monte Dale Smith; siblings, Nicolas Maldonado, Ignacio Maldonado, Gilberto Romero, Conrado Romero, Lydia (Romero) Gallerdo, and baby sister, Epiphania (Gallardo) Rivas; and son-in-law, Tim Zeman.
Survivors include her husband, Braulio "Bob", of the home; a daughter, Margaret Felan Alcorta and husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Chelsea Larsen and husband, Rob, Chad Dawson and wife, Sheli, Emily Reed and husband, Brian, Chance Bost and wife, Sadie, and Isaiah Zeman; nine great grandchildren, Casyn, Jaxson, Riley, Sofia, Judah, EJ, Zariah, Brantley, and Chevy; many other family members and friends as well as her bonus family members, Ana and Rick Camins and their daughter, Soraia Pina.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
