Kenneth Nelson Elam, age 71, of Willow, passed away early Friday morning, May 18, 2012, at his home, in Willow.
Mr. Elam was born on September 22, 1940, in Mangum, Oklahoma to James Theodore and Nettie Modelle (Tyra) Elam. As a young boy, the family moved to Lawton where Kenneth attended school. While in school, Kenneth began learning the construction trade. Throughout his lifetime, Kenneth traveled to many different locations working in construction work until his health forced him to retire. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Preceded in death by his father, one son, Kenneth Elam, Jr. and one sister, Evelyn Hodges, he is survived by his mother, Modelle Elam of Mangum; eight children, Norma Davis of Indiahoma, Oklahoma, Leonard Elam of Paradise Valley, Oklahoma, Daniel Elam of Willow, Wayne Elam of Paradise Valley, Oklahoma, Karen Walkway of Cache, Oklahoma, Kevin McAlister of Oklahoma, Albert Webby of Weatherford and Cozzy Hankins of Miami, Oklahoma; three sisters, Beverly Allyne Conley of Pink, Oklahoma, Elva Katherine Elam of Lawton, Oklahoma and Merline Yvonne Elam of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, James Elam of Willow and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services for Kenneth Elam will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
