Obituary for Kenneth Dale Briscoe
Kenneth Dale Briscoe, 64, of Quanah, Texas, died Thursday, January 27th, 2011, at the United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Kenneth was born February 28th, 1946, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Loyd James and Iva (Williams) Briscoe. He graduated from Southside High School in 1964. Kenny worked as a Scrub Tech for two years in the mid-1960's at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. He married Mary (Hester) Cole July 2, 1970, in Vernon, Texas. After their marriage, Kenny started worked in the oil fields as a Pumper for several years. Deciding to leave the oil fields, Kenny then opened several restaurants in Altus and Quanah and was well-known as an excellent chef. He loved music of all kinds and was a talented musician, playing the piano and guitar. His particular love of music was playing and listening to Gospel. Kenny loved hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his precious family.
Preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth James Briscoe, one brother, Sonny Briscoe, brothers-in-law, Tommy Beach, Donald Easley, Donnie Hester, Truman Cole, and Jimmie Martin, a niece, Karen Easley Crow, and a grand-nephew, Brandon Beach, Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Mary Briscoe of Quanah, Texas; six children, Sherri Schweigert and husband Eric of Abilene, Texas, Terry Cole of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, Dr. Gary Cole and wife Terri of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Kim Briscoe, Sharon Ray and husband Jimmy, and Loyd Dale Briscoe, all of Quanah; three sisters, Pat Easley of Altus, Peggy Risinger and husband Johnnie, also of Altus, and Jane Beach of Elmer, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Carmen Briscoe of Piedmont, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jennifer Schweigert, Megan Schweigert, Lakin Cole, Chance Story, and Jay Don Ray; two great-grandchildren, Koda Ray and Kobyn Ray; a very special nephew who was like a son, J.J. Hester of Altus; a special family friend, Martha Nelson of Quanah; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and special friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rathgeber Hospitality House, 1615 Twelfth Street, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76301.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus with Mark Haught officiating. Interment will follow at Hess Cemetery, Hess, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
