Obituary for Kay Marie Mercer
Kay Marie (Suttle) Mercer, 74, of Altus, OK, formerly of Lawton, OK, peacefully passed away at United Regional Health Care Center of Wichita Falls Friday, July 9, 2021.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving family: her son Robert Wilton Mercer and longtime girlfriend Bertha Hearn of Lawton, OK; daughter Catherine Marie Mercer of Lawton, OK; daughter-in-law Ashley Roblez Mercer; five grandsons Jeremaiah, Gabryel, Zekeriah, Luke, and John; one granddaughter Caitlyn; and a host of loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Dennis Mercer, sister Sheryl Kinder, nephew Toby Wilson, aunt Esther Suttle, and uncle Lester Suttle.
Kay was born on May 4, 1947, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Coy Wilton and Oma (Gentry) Suttle. She lived in Altus and Lawton, Oklahoma as a young girl. On January 24, 1975 she married the love of her life Fred D. Mercer.
Kay worked at H&H Furniture of Altus. She also worked at Altus Finance for over 30 years.
Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus where she taught Vacation Bible School (VBS), the Women's Bowling Association, ABWA (American Women's Business Association), the International Toastmistress Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and the International Order of the Rainbow Girls.
She had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed bowling, singing, crafts, volunteering, cooking, baking, fishing and doing puzzles. Above all she was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, and beloved daughter, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021, 10:00am, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel of Altus, 1100 E. Tamarack Road with Pastor Jeff Moore officiating with burial to follow at the Altus City Cemetery on Falcon Road.
A public visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel of Altus.
