SPENCER
Judy Page Spencer, age 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011, in Louisville.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on December 19, 1936, to Dewitt and Rachel (Robertson) Chitwood. An only child, Judy graduated as the 1954, Class Valedictorian of Mangum High School. In 1957, she graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women and began her first job working for the Texas Fashions Magazine in Dallas, Texas. While working in Dallas, she met Perry H. Spencer and they were married on April 23, 1966, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Mangum, and spent the next forty-five wonderful years together before her death. Later in life, they moved to Louisville, Kentucky and in 1995, she retired from the Paul Schultz Company, where she was a proof-reader.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband, Perry H. Spencer, of the home; her daughter, Perilyn Spencer Wood and husband Tim of Louisville.
She had lived at the Masonic Home in Louisville since 2009 in the Personal Care unit. Health reasons required her to receive more medical attention than she could receive at home. She was treated in the palliative care unit from November 25, 2011, until her death. She had elected not to continue dialysis treatments due to renal failure. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts to the American Diabetes Association.
Graveside services were conducted at 4 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at Riverside Cemetery with Jerry Don Henry officiating. Local arrangements were under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
