Jon Yowell, age 68 of Hollis, Oklahoma and formerly of Erick, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis.
Jon was born in Bowie, Texas on December 7, 1949 to his parents Weldon Orth Yowell and Odessa Mae (Kilpatrick) Yowell and he was baptized at the Stoneburg Baptist Church. He attended grade school in Stoneburg, Texas and middle school in Erick, Oklahoma. The family moved back to Bowie, Texas where Jon graduated from Bowie High School. On October 9, 1986 Jon married Teddie Sue (Rippetoe) Yowell in Wheeler, Texas and they have enjoyed over 32 years of marriage together. Jon lived in Erick, Oklahoma and later was a fixture of the Hollis, Oklahoma community where he was known as Troll. He worked as an Ag pilot for American Dusting and Jon owned and operated Troll's Bridge and Iron Works in Hollis where he worked as a machinist, welder, and just about anything else that people needed help with. Jon loved meeting new people and chatting with old friends, going to the lake, watching the wildlife and walking the trails were some of his favorite things he enjoyed doing.
Preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter Shannon Michelle Yowell; great nephew Steven Stout; and great niece Tyshonda Mann; Jon is survived by his wife Teddie Sue Yowell of the home; two sons, Jon Orth Yowell and wife Christy of Coppell, Texas; and Zachary Dale Finley of Altus, Oklahoma; one daughter, Heather Dawn Finley of Hollis, Oklahoma; one brother Monty Yowell and wife Jeannie of Bowie, Texas; six grandchildren with Jon's nicknames, Morgan "Lucy Morgan", Emily "Meg", Maci "Sally Hunt", Natalie "Grace", Jonathan "Hans", and Elizabeth "Marie"; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
Viewing will be from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Stoneburg, Texas, Montague County near Bowie, Texas with Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
