Obituary for Johnny Rhue Oakley
John Oakley was born September 27, 1918 at Hollister, Oklahoma. He passed away December 11, 2001 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late William frank and Laura Elizabeth (Greer) Oaklay.

John married Hazel Baldwin May 19, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death, June 3, 1999.

John served in World War II with the US Army Air Corps. He was awarded the American defense, American Theater, and the Victory Medals for his service.

He moved to Altus in July of 1966 from Savannah, Georgia. He was retired from Civil Service, and then employed by the Altus Public School System. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include four children; Suzy Brock and Tony of Moultrie, Ga. Brenda Beauchamp and Phillip of Altus, Oklahoma, Bob Oakley and Liz of Edmond, Oklahoma, Gail Vann of Altus, Oklahoma; one brother William Donald Oakley and Naomi of Washington; nine grandchildren, Chris Brock and Beverly, Scott Brock and Sonya, Andy Brock and Christy, Colette Howington and Mike, Heath Daniels, Amanda Walker and Jason, Willie Daniels, Heather Brown, and Jermey and Stacey; ten grandchildren, Jake Brock, Carson Brock, Adalynn Brock, Irene Brock, Tyler Bram, Katie Howington, Preston Bram, Jonas Walker, Haylee Walker, and Grace Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, N.L. Oakley.

Services for Johnny Rhue Oakley are scheduled for Friday December 14, 2001 at 11 am at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family of John Oakley will greet friends Thursday December 13, 2001 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
