Johnny Guthrie, age 67, a lifetime resident of Altus, passed away, Friday July 21, 2017 at his home in Altus.
Johnny was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma on October 3, 1949 to his parents Colonel Stillwell Guthrie and Willie Sadie (Albright) Guthrie. He was raised in the Humphreys community and graduated High School from Southside. Johnny married Carla Bevers in Vernon, Texas and they have enjoyed over 33 years of marriage together. He worked at Ford Tractor in his early years and made a 34-year career with the Humphreys Coop until he retired in 2015. Johnny was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Altus and he enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, his guns, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and his family.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Lee Guthrie; Johnny is survived by his wife Carla Guthrie of the home; two children, Amy Morris and husband Ben of Altus; and Lee Vier and wife Kim of Altus; three brothers, Harold Guthrie and wife Phyllis of Florida; Rodney Guthrie and wife Carol of Medford, Oklahoma; and Billy Guthrie and wife Roxane of Hollis; two sisters, Melba Donaldson and husband Mike of Altus; and Sandra Hawley and husband Bill of Altus; five grandchildren, Patrick Rice and wife KC; Savanna Vier and Abby Vier; Garret Morris and Kortni Morris; two great grandchildren, Rhyder and Raelyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Brother Mark Turvaville and Tony Fox officiating.
Interment will follow at Francis Cemetery near Humphrey"s, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
