John Wesley Riley age 64 of Altus, Oklahoma died August 20, 1965 in Memorial Hospital, Altus. He was born November 18, 1900, in Quanah, Texas to W.A. and Julia Ann (Stidham). He married Hattie September 25, 1927.
He had been a resident of Jackson County since 1902. He was a member of the Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce, 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner of India Temple, I.O.O.F., W.O.O.F., W.O.W., Kiwanis, National and Oklahoma Society to Professional Eng.ineers. John started Riley, Briggs and Barton Engineering Company in 1943. He served as county Engineer for 14 years. He was city engineer, city surveyor for 21 years. He was involved in many state and city projects, including working on Route 66. He was on the Post War Planning Board Area Engineers in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services for John Wesley Riley are scheduled for August 22, 1965 at 2:00pm in the First Baptist Church, Altus, officiated by Rev. Gene Garrison and Rev. James Read. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
John Wesley Riley is survived by his wife, Hattie of the home in Altus; brothers, Ted Riley, Altus, Oklahoma; Jim Riley, Altus, Oklahoma; Sam riley, Shawnee, Oklahoma; sister, Mrs. Alvin Pool, Altus, Oklahoma.
John was preceded in death by one sister Mattie Mae West, December 22, 1964.
