John Joseph Steen

John Joseph Steen, age 63, of Headrick, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 8, 1942, in Santo, Texas, to Robert Hall Steen and Flora Ellen (Williams) Steen. On August 10, 1963, in Ft. Worth, Texas, John and Sandra J. Klock were united in marriage.

John entered the United States Air Force August 15, 1961, and served as a medical Administrative Superintendent for over twenty years. During this time, he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal,1 Oakleaf Cluster; NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, 1 Oakleaf Cluster; Humanitarian Service Medal; Air Force Longevity
Service Ribbon; 4 Oakleaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, 1 Oakleaf Cluster, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, 1 Oakleaf Cluster. On August 31,1981, John retire from Altus Air Force Base. After retirement, john went to work for Fox Building Supply in Altus and worked there from 1981 until 1982. He worked at Altus Air Force with C.C. Distributors until 1994 and then returned to Fox Building Supply in 1994 and retired in January of 2006.

John had several hobbies he enjoyed: hunting, remodeling his home, and playing country with his friends.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Steen of the home in Headrick; three children, Scott Steen and wife Dawn of Grants Pass, Oregon, Roni Ferrenberg and husband Jim of Headrick, Dana Olmstead and husband Brian of Danbury, Connecticut. He is also survived by two sisters, Flora Allstun and Sharon Gunn; two brothers, Glen Steen and Loyd Steen; mother-in-law Eleanor Klock; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many musical friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronny Lynn Steen.
