Obituary for Joel Mark Castaneda
Joel Mark Castaneda, a long-time resident of Harmon County, passed away at the age of 47 on December 23, 2022, at Harmon Memorial Hospital.
Joel was born in Altus, Oklahoma to Carmen Castaneda and Enedina (Espinosa) Castaneda on September 23, 1975. He grew up in Gould, Oklahoma in 1989 and moved to Hollis, Oklahoma.
Later down the line, he met the love of his life, Amanda Castaneda through a few mutual friends they had. They fell in love and then got married on Valentine's Day of 2011. Together they had two beautiful daughters that they raised full of love. To Joel, his family was his everything. He truly cherished every moment he spent with them.
Joel worked in road construction for numerous years before returning to his home in Hollis, Oklahoma. He started working at Harmon Memorial Hospital, where he worked in housekeeping, making sure everything was clean and taken care of until his medical retirement in 2020. A big part of Joel's life was in dedication to Jesus. He was an active member of his church, Templo La Hermosa in Hollis, Oklahoma. Joel loved to worship the Lord and used his god given abilities to sing and play the guitar in worship service. . In his free time, Joel liked to go to the casino and loved to play his guitar for friends and family. Joel was quite the jokester, telling stories and jokes to anyone that would listen. With Joel, there was never a dull moment.
Receiving Joel into heaven's gates were his parents and maternal grandmother Lucia Espinosa whom he shared a special bond.
Left to carry on his loving legacy are his wife, Amanda Castaneda; daughters Abigayle Castaneda and Madeline Willis; brothers, Carmen Castaneda Jr. and wife Marsha, Sammy Castaneda and wife Anita, Roy Castaneda and Jeanine Jackson, Steven Castaneda and wife Teresa, Franky Castaneda and Theresa Strain, and Mike Castaneda; sisters, Diana Walker and husband James, Melinda Castaneda, and Cindy McGirt; also an abundance of beloved nieces and nephews, and a very special aunt Sally Saldana, as well as many other loved family and friends.
The Castaneda family will receive friends at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at Templo La Hermosa in Hollis, Oklahoma with his aunt Reverend Sally Saldana officiating.
Services have been entrusted to Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
