Jewell Lea McElwee, 83, died Sunday at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are pending with Lowell Funeral Home.

McElwee was born September 5, 1907 in Lamar County, Texas. She moved to Jackson County in 1941 from Chicota, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband William McElwee and a son Scott McElwee.

Survivors include, one son Malcom McElwee of Olustee, Oklahoma; eight daughters, Mary Ware of Tyler, Texas; Martha Adkins of Houston, Texas; Jean McCallay of Duke, Oklahoma; Wanda Hutchinson of Joplin, Missouri; Nell Emerson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Micki Stover of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sue Lockridge of Dallas, Texas and Jeannene Flower of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Clint Hunter of Hunter of Lubbock, Texas; four sisters, Opal Travis of Paris, Texas; Katy Campbell of Paris, Texas; Clara McCann of Mesquite, Texas; and Willie Jim. Also surviving are fourty grandchildren, fourty six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
